The Zero Carbon Caravan (ZCC) has generated a movement of individuals to carry the message of action on climate change to the UNFCCC talks in Copenhagen (December 2009). These are talks which have gone on for years without leading to any positive outcomes. The future of Kyoto, due to expire in 2012, is in doubt as the Americans seem unlikely to support it. However, ther is positive support from China, who seem keen to limit their CO2 at so,e stage in the future.

In the UK, climate campaigners have been disamyed by the spread of open-cast coal mining especially in Southern Scotland and South Wales. Fact: Since the 2005 general election, 54 new open-cast mines have been approved

Many cyclists in Britain are making their way to Copenhagen travelling through France, Belgium and then to Denmark. This idea was thought up at the Climate camp 2008 at Kingsnorth (Eon) camp by Green party activist Chris Keene. Along the many places they are travelling through, they are connecting with local groups, such as the 'transition towns' movement, to establish an itinerary of ‘zero carbon conferences’ and gigs to build momentum for zero carbon awareness. The ZCC will act as a coordinating hub for other ‘caravanning’ groups, encouraging worldwide participation to demand of the UNFCCC our mission:
‘A zero carbon world, as fast as we can’.
